5. Solidify the contract.
In our zeal to "just get it done" we often take it for granted that everyone understands and plays by the same rules. BIG mistake.
What to Expect: Before any development or implementation begins,
a reputable solutions provider will negotiate a clearly defined scope
of work, set of deliverables, proposed production, testing, and implementation
schedules, training and maintenance, when applicable, and budget.
Protect your investment by negotiating a solid contract. Some solutions providers bid low to get the deal, then try to make adjustments later down the line. Be on the look out for solutions providers who are over eager to begin work without clearly defining the project scope and agreeing to the rules of engagement.
